FITCO Cares: The Name Says It All
by Brittney Boop on February 8, 2012 in Veterans

Many of you know that my husband and I are both veterans and that he was inured in Iraq. Through our experiences we have started to give back to others and ensure that the lessons we learned are passed along to others so that they might have it a bit easier than we did. We truly love to give back. Recently I read Chris Kyle’s book American Sniper. I had previously met Chris at a retreat for wounded warriors and their families and you can read more about that here. Chris has partnered up with an organization called FITCO Cares Foundation and I figured any organization that he was involved with had to be great. I e-mailed them and offered my assistance. Little did I know it would turn in to great friendships.

FITCO Cares Foundation Heroes Project is a great organization. If you check out their website you will see  the following about them:

FITCO Cares Foundation, in partnership with former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, has created the Heroes Project to provide free in-home fitness equipment, individualized programs, personal training and life-coaching to in-need veterans with disabilities, Gold Star families or those suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. The FITCO Cares Foundation is the company’s new non-profit organization, established in 2011.

I had e-mailed them because I wanted to help them in any way that I could. They sounded like such a neat organization with a great mission and I just wanted to help them. With them being in Texas and me being in Washington, I knew there wasn’t a whole lot that I could do but I just wanted to offer my help. Soon I received a call out of the blue and was chatting with them about how I could help.

From there I started talking with the FITCO CEO Jason Kos. To say that he is a great guy would be the biggest understatement in the world. He is amazing. He is one of the most kind and generous people I have ever encountered. His generosity is larger than life. I joked on Facebook the other day that I couldn’t sleep and so I got up to get on the treadmill. I joked that it would probably make him and all of the other people at FITCO smile since they are a fitness organization. He was so happy to see that my husband and I were trying to get back in to shape. We had both gained a lot of weight since we served and desire to get back in to better physical condition. Through the kindness in his heart he sent my husband and I equipment so that we could work out at home. We had the packages show up yesterday and are so excited to get started.

FITCO doesn’t just give you equipment, they give you support. They sent us little workouts so that we actually know how to use all of the equipment. They stay in touch with us and we even met up with a couple of the other great FITCO employees when they were in our area for some training! They want us to e-mail them if we ever have questions. They want to stay in touch with us and help wherever they can. Their caring goes above and beyond and they are truly an amazing organization with amazing people. They don’t want to just give you equipment, they actually care about who you are and how you are doing. They truly do care and want to see you succeed.

My husband and I were not expecting this at all and were truly taken aback by their generosity. We want to help others and never expect anything for ourselves. The people at FITCO have truly been amazing and I truly appreciate everything they do and the friendships I have made because of it. Please go and check them out because they deserve your support.
